Kerala Studies Lecture Series Lecture –3

As part of the Kerala Studies Lecture Series, the Department of Political Science, Panampilly Memorial Government College, Chalakudy, organized the third lecture of the series with great academic enthusiasm. The session was delivered by Ms. Arundhati B, research scholar in University of Hyderabad and a political commentator.

Ms. Arundhati delivered an insightful lecture titled “From subjects to citizens: Ruling, obedience, and change in eighteenth century Kerala.” In her address, she critically examined the historical foundations of constitutional citizenship shaped by the political struggles and social reform movements and reflected on their continuing relevance. Faculty members and students actively engaged with the themes discussed, making the programme academically enriching and meaningful. The

Kerala Studies Lecture Series Lecture -2

Prof. (Dr.) Sivadasan P, Head, Department of Political Science and Senior Professor of History in University of Calicut delivered second lecture as part of Kerala Studies Lecture Series organized by Department of Political science, Panampilly Memorial Government College. His lecture titled ‘Making of modern Kerala: The legacy of social reform’ addressed the persistent issues of casteism, communalism, patriarchy and other social issues prevalent in contemporary Kerala despite the rich legacy of social reform movement

Inauguration of Political Science Association 2025-26

The Political Science Association of Panampilly Memorial Government College was formally inaugurated on 30 January 2026 by Prof. Sivadasan P, Head, Department of Political Science, and Senior Professor of History in University of Calicut. In his inaugural address, Prof. Sivadasan urged students to actively reach out to society and engage with contemporary social and political issues beyond the classroom.

The Department of Political Science organized the Kerala Studies Lecture Series on 28 January 2026. The lecture series was formally inaugurated by the Principal, Prof. Shaju K. S. The inaugural lecture was delivered by Prof. (Dr.)M. S. UGC NET/JRF orientation series paper 1 – Teaching Aptitude

The Department of Political Science organized a UGC NET–JRF Orientation Series for postgraduate students of Political Science and students from other Social Science and Humanities disciplines of the college. The programme aimed to prepare students for the UGC NET examination, with a focused orientation on Paper II (Political Science) and occasional sessions on Paper I.
The orientation series commenced on 15 October 2025 and continued until the December cycle of the UGC NET examination. The classes were conducted in a blended mode, combining online and offline sessions, to ensure wider participation and academic continuity.
A special online practice session on International Relations was held on 18 October 2025, led by Ms. Sanija M., PhD Scholar, Centre for African Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). The session provided exam-oriented training with emphasis on conceptual clarity, question analysis, and answer strategies relevant to Paper II.
