The Department of Mathematics at PM Govt College, Chalakudy had a vibrant and academically rich year in 2025–26, organizing a series of programs aimed at strengthening students’ conceptual understanding and exam readiness. The year featured the inauguration of the Mathematics Association, expert lectures by invited faculty, activity-based events like Math Quest, and enrichment sessions such as Foundation Mathematics for Competitive Exams. Along with interactive quizzes and outreach-style academic talks, these initiatives created an engaging learning environment that encouraged participation, critical thinking, and a deeper appreciation of mathematics among students.

The inauguration of the Mathematics Association “Numera 2026” was held on Tuesday, 03/01/2026, at 10:00 a.m. The welcome speech was delivered by the Association Secretary, Uthara Prakash s. The presidential address was given by the Head of the Mathematics Department, Dr.Jeepa mol J Palathingal. The inauguration was carried out by Ms. Nikhitha P. B., an alumna of Panampilly College and Assistant Professor at MTI Thrissur College. The keynote address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Principal Dr. Shaju K. S. The Vice Principal and Mathematics faculty member, Mr. Albert Antony, and the College Union Chairperson Mujeeb Rahman, extended their felicitations. Ms. Nikhitha P. B. was honored with a memento on behalf of the department and the association.

As part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Panampilly Memorial Govt. College, Chalakudy, the Department of Mathematics has conducted an intercollegiate quiz competition in collaboration with SBI Chalakudy on 20.01.2026. The inaugural ceremony was conducted in the seminar hall of P M G College, Chalakudy which was welcomed by Dr.Jeepamol j Palathingal, Head, Department of Mathematics of our college. The Principal of our college, Dr. Shaju K S, inaugurated the event. The Vice Principal Sri. Albert Antony, Associate Prof. Mathematics and the IQAC coordinator, Sri Shinto Kuriakkose felicitated the function and the quiz master, Mr. Arun J Manattu, , Full Time Research Scholar, Department of Mathematics, CUSAT, addressed the audience with motivating words. The coordinator Dr.Magi P M, Associate Prof. Mathematics cast the vote of thanks.
Twenty two teams; each team comprising of two participants contested in the event. Five teams were selected form the preliminary round with a written test The competition was held in 8rounds and the result was announced immediately as follows..
As part of the Golden Jubilee Lecture Series, Panampilly Memorial Government College,Chalakudy,the Department of Computer Science in association with the Department of Mathematics jointly organized a lecture on “AI Tools for Mathematics: Enhancing Learning and Computation” on 16 January 2026 at 10:30 AM in the Lecture Hall, Department of Mathematics.
